Did you happen to see yesterday’s NBC Nightly News broadcast? The evening’s final segment featured Reyna Pacheco, a graduate of Squash Education Alliance (SEA)’s Access Youth Academy in San Diego.
Born in Mexico, Pacheco moved to the U.S. when she was four years old and in middle school joined Access Youth Academy, a member program of SEA. She went on to attend Columbia University as a Gates Millenium Scholar, played on Columbia’s varsity squash team, and after graduation competed for two years on the professional tour, reaching a world ranking of #61.
In 2018, Pacheco moved to New York City to join Goldman Sachs, where she is now an Associate in Structured Finance. Pacheco continues to play squash, serves on the board of New York’s CitySquash, and remains involved with Access Youth Academy.
Awesome to see squash feature on NBC Nightly News!
MetroSquash – Back in the Swing of Things – Nov 18 Event!
We are very excited to be back with safe in-person programming this fall! It is a true joy to see our students back in the classrooms and on the squash courts. We thank you for your continued and generous support over these past 18 months. It has helped our team continue to provide essential scholarship support, best-fit high school and post-secondary access, and first class academic, enrichment, and athletic programming.
We look forward to hosting many in-person programming events safely this fall, including try-outs on October 16 and 23. Vaccinated volunteers are welcome to attend in person.
We hope you will join us for our fall event at the Saddle and Cycle Club on Thursday, November 18th from 6-9pm. The event will be held in a beautiful indoor/outdoor space with great food and fun games.
In-person programming is finally kicking-off again at MetroSquash Evanston! This past weekend 16 students, staff, and volunteers came together for a squash demo for their newest 6th and 7th graders. For most, it was their first time playing squash and they have all shared how they’re excited to continue improving in the sport during their time at MetroSquash. The fun-filled morning concluded with a tour of the classroom space at the McGaw YMCA where students will participate in tutoring and academic enrichment and a lunch on the terrace of Creative Coworking, where the new MetroSquash office is.
